A Marriage of Technology & Fashion

New York Fashion Week 2012 ushered in new trends and practices, especially when it came to technology. One of my favorite innovations featured were the bar code scanning stands in which those carrying invitations on their phones could scan their invite bar code and print out their seat assignment without having to wait to check in. This practice was identical to scanning your boarding pass at the airport via your smart phone, for those of us who remember to check in the night before and email our boarding passes.
With new technology on the rise in the fashion industry, there is one collaboration of designer and tech guru that everyone seems to be talking about, Diane von Furstenberg and Sergey Brin.  For those of you who aren't familiar, Mr. Brin is the current CEO and co founder of the world's most recognizable company, Google.  Combining their efforts for New York Fashion Week, Brin and DVF debuted Google's new augmented reality glasses. Both the models and Diane von Furstenberg sported the glasses to give a "live" view of the behind the scenes as well as the creativity down the runway of perspective.

The glasses themselves are sleek in design, not necessarily the most outlandish thing we've seen stroll down the catwalk. The result was a short film and live pictures streamed to the Google+ Page for instant viewing.
Technology certainly has found a new home in the fashion industry, and its quite fitting. Earbuds are being manufactured into clothing, and stereo speakers are being designed into handbags, so it makes sense that more of these collaborations are to come.
