Fashionably Festive

The holidays bring more than glamorous gifts. It is the perfect time for a decorative soirée. Nothing is more exciting than reuniting with friends over the holidays while entertaining and looking fabulous.  While your decorating skills have channelled Martha Stewart, your look and style for the eve need to be top notch as well.

So let's celebrate you to the fullest and amp up your style for this seasons festivities!

Starting with the dress. Lace cocktail dresses are this season's must.  With so many options to choose from, keep in mind your body shape and which hues and waistlines flatter you most.
Fashionably Festive

Also try a high waisted skirt like like the 'Scuba Skater Skirt' paired with a sequin or cropped blazer.  Color is the new staple for Fall/Winter 2012, so make sure you incorporate it in your attire.
Accessorizing will take any outfit from dull to dashing. Mixing and matching styles, metals and pieces is acceptable but don't let your personal adornments take away from your overall look.  Try short black stone drop earrings, a chunky black bangle, black beaded necklace, a gold minaudière and a statement making cocktail ring with a pop of color.
Fashionably Festive Classy

Updo's pair perfectly with the overall classy image.  For the most current styles and tutorials, do a Pinterest search for 'DIY updo' or visit your favorite beauty hauler on youtube.
To top off the look, let's talk shoes.  Now that too-high platforms are making their grand exit and sandals and stilettos are back in the picture, our gams look more dainty and lady-like than ever before!  Depending on the dress, whether its an over or under statement, choose the shoes accordingly.  For instance, if you go with the 'Cynthia Ruffled Lace Cocktail Dress' in green, pair it with a gold or black sandal with little embellishment. If you choose for something more modest and timeless like an LBD, go bold with the shoes and throw on your Manolo Blahnik 'Hangisi' jeweled pump.
Enjoy sipping on your candy cane cocktails and munching on your miniature designer cupcakes! (see below for a recipe from Martha Stewart)

1 candy cane, crushed, for garnish

  • 2 ounces strawberry vodka
  • 4 dashes white creme de menthe
  • 2 1/2 ounces cranberry juice
  • Ice cubes

  1. Place crushed candy canes on a small plate or saucer. Wet the outside rim of a chilled martini glass with water. Holding the glass by the stem, rotate the rim to coat with candy.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, creme de menthe, cranberry juice, and ice; shake until well combined. Strain into prepared glass; serve immediately.
