Holiday Gift Giving

Giving gift during the holidays is a tradition which seems to be dwindling with the economy.  However, just after WWII, big spending around the holidays is what got us out of the first depression so here we come!
Hopefully, you were a trooper and got all of your gifts out of the way on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday.  The deals and sales were extended throughout the weekend saving most from the stampede of the in-store experience as seen in previous post Thanksgiving sprees.
If you have not finished your perusing for the "perfect gift" for your friends and family, here are a few sites I recommend to make things easier and help you personalize each gift.
One of my specialties is proper gift giving. I like to take into account the person's personality and hobbies and then cross reference them with conversations and potential shopping excursions in which they mentioned an item they wanted or needed. All of this seems like a lot of effort but it isn't when you are shopping on the right sites and stores for the right person, it will come to you, trust me.
Redenvelope.com is very helpful, especially when buying for men.  They have categories in which you can break down your search based on occasion and hobby. So if you have a man in your life who is a cigar and whiskey guy, they suggest a "whiskey lover's set" with soapstone chillers and glasses.
Online shopping makes it much easier to narrow down your search when you have a particular person in mind, such as a best friend who seems to have everything. E-tailers have simplified the process by giving you recommendations. Nordstrom.com has a "Gift" category on their home page that leads you to then select from choices such as: "Best Boss Ever", "Priced Under $100" and department suggestions. So for that BFF who has everything, she might not have the Tory Burch Logo Stud earrings in gold.
Pinterest also has great ideas for gifts and DIY presents that will scream in uniqueness. Just search "DIY Holiday Gifts" and you will get tons of ideas with instructions.
In store, the departments have their suggestions perfectly placed to where you don't need to leave the walking aisles to snag a good gift.  The women's department at Bloomingdale's has the snugly Betsey Johnson Velour Robes within arms reach of the escalators.
Your budget may be smaller this year but let's not skimp on the creativity and personal touches. When in doubt, gift cards to a favorite store with a great card  are always welcome!
