Croquet & Lemondrops- A Palm Springs Getaway

The first three day weekend escape of the year, and I decided to brave the trip east to the stifling, yet famous, Palm Springs.  Booming in the 1950's with celebrities and the modernism movement shortly thereafter, Palm Springs has been known as the posh hideaway for socialites and who's who. After all, they do hve their own Fashion Week AND an entire week dedicated to all things mod.
Still famous and infamous, Palm Springs has much to entertain any type of guest it encounters with drag shows your hair dresser demands you to attend, to antique boutiques with vintage Prada's for $200. (both happened)

I had my eye on the Parker Palm Springs for almost a year due to their unique and creative marketing videos and exclusivity due to the fact that it is almost hidden.  When I arrived, I was greeted with two valets in salmon chinos and white polos and I knew I was at the right place.  After entering the oversized orange mode doors, I seem to have stepped into Jonathan Adler heaven in which vintage furniture juxtaposed by older and more modern designs of his.
After checking in, I rushed to the North building to my posh suite with pink marbled sinks lined with Pelligrino and a Vogue on the bed. Perfect! Next on the schedule was to tour the grounds, literally an entire estate the hotel provides making it seem like you are just merely staying the weekend at your wealthy friend's estate.
The afternoon was filled with Champagne Lemondrops from the Lemonade Stand and a few rounds of bocce ball and croquet. Finally after a quick change into my DVF silk pants, I was off to dinner at Mister Parker's followed by a night cap at the Mini Bar (tried a Moscow Mule, yum!).
In the morning, I enjoyed a round of tennis on the clay courts followed by a dip in the adult pool and brunch at Norma's. (I HIGHLY recommend trying the 'Wa Za Waffle)
Who goes on vacation and doesn't play life size chess?!
I certainly did not come out of Palm Springs without a 'steal', many boast about this wonderful 'blah' they found for 'next to nothing'...I simply had to try. So I invested my 'next to nothing' in a vintage brass and glass tea cart for my couch side bar! Steal!
I do believe I will make the land of color burst outfits, mod, year round tans, and floppy hats my frequent getaway destination.
