Wrapping up my journey here at New York Fashion Week, with shows still to come, I could not have ended on a higher note! For my fifth day of New York Fashion Week, I attended the Tommy Hilfiger Spring '14 Runway show held at Pier 97.
The personal touches involved in the show were bar none. I received my invite via messenger here in NYC and as I arrived, I was introduced to the "social concierge." A feature before, during and after the show in which guest and attendees could take part in. The social concierge would take email requests from the guests as they enjoyed their morning juices before walking into the runway, including backstage photo requests of high res images and insight to the buzz behind the scenes. The intent was to inform and spread the word as attendees shared the images via their social media as the show took place.
The runway was a wooden boardwalk set on actual sand dunes with surf boards and lifeguard chairs. Such a cute aesthetic! To top off the California themed runway, a Beach Boys montage played throughout the runway while bright and colorful beach babes made their way on the boardwalk and through the dunes.
The footwear for the collection was a highlight for me, consisting of leather and suede wedge lace-up sneakers color-blocked with vibrant hues mixed and matched. The crowd was a gathering of the industry's finest, including Anna Wintour, Nina Garcia and Tommy's wife and daughter.
Post Tommy Hilfiger, I was off to the P&G Beauty Lounge with Style Coalition to sit in on a chat with editors from Harper's Bazaar, Joyann King and Megan Reynolds and hang to chat about runway trends, what's in store for Fall and the impact of digital media on print.
A day well done ending with a glass of wine on the upper west side and I am back to Los Angeles!
Stay tuned for my outfit details throughout New York Fashion Week tomorrow!
Watch for yourself!
